April's Heart Premieres October 23rd in Sanford!

The Sanford High School Film Club and other students shared their stories, gifts, passion and creativity to help make their own professional, high quality, dramatic movie. Over 125 Sanford High Schools Students are directly involved in this project! The film will premiere on October 23rd from 7 – 9  PM at the Curtis Lake Christian Church in Sanford. Please arrive at 6:30 as the doors open to hear music created and performed by Sanford youth. This is a "red carpet" event!

The movie April's Heart tears the mask off youth so we can see inside. It’s a story set in a time when life can be hard; a story that gives us an intimate look at the challenges, hopes and dreams of teenagers. The movie invites us to listen … and to care.

The Sanford (Maine) High School Film Club, with the support of Project AWARE and Gum Spirits Productions, led the year-long production effort. The goals included empowered young people, safer schools and healthier teens. Ultimately over 200 students, staff and community members were directly involved, making it one of the largest after school programs the town has ever seen.

Young people created the story and the script and did everything from filming to acting to producing.
