Friday, March 25 Goodall Hospital employees got unexpected good news Friday morning when hospital administration surprised them with a one-time cash payment to thank them for their sacrifices and dedication to the hospital during the economic downturn.

“Because of your dedication, today Goodall is healthy and vibrant,” President/CEO Darlene Stromstad wrote in a letter to employees.  “We just couldn’t be more proud of you!”

“This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the great care you provide to our patients and communities,” she said at employee forums held at the hospital’s three campuses.  The hospital suspended raises in early 2009 so some employees have gone almost three years without an increase.  Additionally, between March, 2009 and June, 2010, employees experienced a decrease in salary, ranging from 4% to 10%.

Saco/Sanford, ME, Feb., 2011:  The three-part York County Senior College lecture series will culminate on Wednesday,  March 16, with voyages through history and geography, with Dr. John Sutherland, who will speak about the 26th president's life in "The Many Faces of Teddy Roosevelt." 

                John Sutherland graduated from the University of Maine and received his Ph.D. in History from Temple University. He is Professor of History Emeritus and Emeritus Director of the Institute of Local History at Manchester (CT.) Community College.

York County Regional Job Fair

The York County Regional Job Fair will be held Wednesday March 30th from 11:00 – 4:00 to address persistent unemployment for both veterans and the general public, and the anticipated return of National Guard soldiers in March. The fair will be host to local employers with current or planned job openings, some of whom offer hiring preferences to veterans.  There will also be free workshops throughout the day.  The fair, sponsored by the Springvale Career Center, the Maine Military & Community Network, Sanford-Springvale Chamber of Commerce, and Goodwill Industries, is free and open to all at the Nasson Community Center at 457 Maine Street in Springvale.
