Sanford police looking for man who showed knife, demanded cash

SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Sanford police are looking for a man who showed a knife and demanded money from the clerk at a local hotel on Tuesday.

Officials are looking for a man who entered the Super 8 hotel in Sanford Tuesday at approximately 8:21 p.m. and demanded cash. The suspect also attempted to take a laptop from the clerk, but failed.

The man is described as approximately 20 years as 6'0", 170 to 180 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing Snap-on gloves and a distinctly patterned hoodie.

Officials are also looking for the public's help in identifying a potential witness in the case. Police said the woman pictured below may have had some interaction with the suspect in the adjacent Walmart parking lot. Police said it did not seem like the two were acquainted, but there was a significant encounter.
