Sanford sexual assault investigation leads to arson arrest | News
SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Police in Sanford made an arson arrest while they were investigating an alleged sexual assault case.
Police say the assult took place at at an underage drinking party on New Years Eve and that the victim is a juvenile. They are not releasing her name.
While investigating the assault, police discovered an unreported arson in the same neighborhood as the party.
After a joint investigation with Sanford Fire Department, police arrested 19-year-old Tylor Yeaton of Sanford. Yeaton was found hiding at a friend's house when police arrested him on Tuesday January 2nd.
Detective Jones said in a release, "due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, and the number of people involved, police are not yet ready to go into further detail at this time about the location of the arson or the link between the alleged sexual assault and the arson."
Police said no one was injured in the arson. Police say Yeaton has been transported to the York County Jail where bail was set at $10,000. He has been charged with Arson, a class A felony.
